Ian Cooke: The Making Of A Financial Planning Empire

Ian Cooke joined financial services at a tender age of 23, and over the last two decades or so, he has build what can be best described as a financial planning empire. The sprawling empire now includes Aspect8 – a leading financial planning firm, Best Practice – a network for chartered planning firms, which is truly bucking the trend and going from strength to strength, Fusion – a wrap platform with nearly £1.5b in asset and Creative Technologies, a software company that provides CRM/back office system to some of the best planning firms in the country.

What is incredible is that Ian has built the business entirely with internal capital, without the influence of any third parties. Ian started out as an adviser and has built the business by reinvesting profits, putting those who say financial planning isn’t scalable to utter shame 🙂

In this interview Ian talks to Abraham Okusanya about how what started out as a small advisory firm many years ago morphed into a force to be reckoned with in UK financial services.
