Cambridge University’s Professor Elroy Dimson to speak at Science of Retirement Conference 2019

We’re delighted and honoured to announce that Professor Elroy Dimson from Cambridge University will deliver a keynote at the Science of Retirement Conference on Thurs., 28th February 2019 at the Science Museum, London.

Jack Bogle once said that ‘investment professionals who take their careers, their responsibilities, and their fiduciary duty seriously must have a deep understanding of financial history.’ Elroy Dimson has done more than almost anyone alive today to enhance our understanding of the history of capital markets.

Professor Dimson has unparalleled insight into the behaviour of asset classes. Together with his colleagues Paul Marsh and Mike Staunton, he has created the most comprehensive database of long-term returns of stocks, bonds, bills, inflation and exchange rates for 23 countries over the 118 years since 1900. This dataset is known today as the Morningstar DMS Global Returns Database.

He is the leading authority on the history of the capital markets and some of his best work includes:

Professor Elroy Dimson chairs the Centre for Endowment Asset Management at Cambridge Judge Business School, and is Emeritus Professor of Finance at London Business School.

He chairs the Advisory and Policy Boards of FTSE Russell, and serves on the Advisory Council of Financial Analysts Journal, the Supervisory Council of the Geneva Finance Research Institute, and the Steering Committee of the Financial Economists’ Roundtable. Until 2016 he chaired the Strategy Council of the Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global, and before going to Cambridge, was a Professor and Governor at London Business School.

Since its inception in 2015, SORC has gained a reputation for its evidence-based content on retirement income planning! It is now the go-to event for advisers looking for in-depth insight into sustainable withdrawal strategy, longevity, asset allocation and much more! Our vision for the SORC19 is that delegates would go away better equipped and inspired to help clients enjoy a dignified retirement, one in which the money outlives the people. So, expect top-notch content on the ‘art’ and the ‘science’ of retirement at the event!
