I’m beyond chuffed to invite you to our 2nd annual Science of Retirement Conference, billed for 2nd March 2016!
Since publishing the Pound Cost Ravaging white paper in January 2015, I have traveled the length of the country, speaking to advisers at conferences. One thing that strikes me is that retirement income planning is an area of considerable challenge for financial planners and there is an unprecedented need for evidence-based approach for what is perhaps one of the greatest challenges of our profession today!
I have always believed that planning people’s retirement should be based on a lot more than sticking the proverbial finger in the air! I believe we need to subject retirement planning practices to academic rigor and empirical research. And that’s why we are putting together this event. The Science of Retirement Conference features leading researchers, academics and practitioners to share the latest thinking on retirement income planning, with particular emphasis on the theory, practicalities and case studies on sustainable withdrawal strategies, asset allocation glidepaths and risk management in retirement.
One of the keynote speakers at the event is Dr Wade Pfau, the Professor of Retirement Income at the American College of Financial Services and the Director of Research at McLean Asset Management, a registered investment advisory firm headquartered in McLean, Virginia. Wade has conducted extensive research on several aspects of retirement planning including sustainable withdrawal strategies, asset allocation and risk management in retirement. I have thoroughly enjoyed Wade’s work over the last few years and I look forward to welcoming him to London!
Former Shadow Pensions Minister Gregg McClymont, now head of Retirement Savings at Aberdeen will unpack politicians’ obsessions with pensions and provide insight into what to expect from Westminster going forward.
Leading financial planners including Former IFP President Marlene Outrim, will share practical experience on withdrawal strategies, managing bequests and wealth transfers across generations.
